Evan joined the WCA in 2013. He comes with a long family history in both horses and wagon racing. Evan’s immersion into chuckwagon racing began long before he was born. His grandfather started it all when he raced over 60 years ago. His father’s rookie year was 1973 and retired from the sport only a few years ago. Evan is a traditional cowboy and horses have always been a part of his life. He was a barn hand for his father, he learned the farrier trade, he spent a few years as an outrider, and he raced his first race in 2007 with the CPCA. After a brief hiatus from the sport, he joined the WCA as a rookie member. He brought with him his whole family and a whole lot of solid clean competition. He proved to be a strong capable driver with endless energy. His first year he ran 2 hooks successfully. For 2014, Evan chose to focus on one winning team focusing on how far up the standings he could move. It was a good year for him and he did move up the standings. He will be back in 2015 with a stronger dedication to achieving. We expect him to provide some excellent competition for the other drivers and a higher place in the standings at season end.

Evan likes working with horses, like the race track, and gets an incredible boost of adrenalin when he hears the horn blow. He also likes meeting new people and making new friends, making him a perfect fit with the club. In his spare time, he enjoys building and repairing wagon wheels, breaking new horses to drive, and watching football. He has also designed and built his own wagon from the ground up. His next project, almost completed, is a 53’ horse van fully equipped with fold out barns and storage compartments.

Evan is another great choice for a sponsor looking for someone who wants representation for their company in a professional manner. He's a great guy who does work very well with his sponsors to give them the best “bang for their buck”. He has a clean, uniquely painted wagon that displays any tarp well.

Along with his wife Allison and their 3 children, Evan owns and operates a very busy mobile truck and trailer business, EMR Mechanics in their home town of Warman, Saskatchewan. You can check him out at (www.emrmechanics.com) or check out his Facebook page. Link under photo.
